This is an overview of how to use Dr Dispatch Remotely when outside of the main office.


Option # 1:


Remote Desktop Connection to a Terminal Server  ( For Multiple users or locations)
This setup requires a dedicated server running Microsoft Server Operating System with Terminal Services as well as the Dr Dispatch Terminal Server License. Please contact Customer Support with purchase inquiries.

How would you connect?  You pull up Remote Desktop in windows and log into a session on the server that allows you to run software installed on the server.

How many can connect?  This setup supports multiple sessions that is limited to the number of Client Access License ( CALs ) that you own. These are sold in groups of 5 users.

Who can set this up?  This setup requires configuration by your company’s technical support department or 3rd party IT.

Pros:

Handles many user at one time

Cons:

Requires larger investment

Requires more technical setup





Option # 2:


Remote Control Service Website ( Best for Single Remote user ) 

This setup requires a desktop with Dr Dispatch user license that is setup with ( or attached to ) a remote control service website like Logmein.com or gotomypc.com.

How would you connect? You log into the service website you subscribe to.

How many can connect?  This setup supports 1 session controlling 1 desktop at a time.

Who can set this up?  This setup requires signing up at a website and can usually be established by the end user.  There is little if any configuration needed from your company’s technical support department or 3rd party IT.

Pros:

Low cost ( frequently $99 per year )

Requires less technical setup.

Cons:

Limited number of user ( requires 1 PC for each active user )
