FourKites setup has two parts: turning it on for your company, and turning it on for each customer who should use it.

  Before You Start

  Make sure you have:

  - An administrator login

  - Your FourKites API key

  - The customer’s FourKites Shipper ID (billToCode)

Step 1: Turn On FourKites for Your Company

  1. Sign in as an administrator.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select FourKites Tracking.

  4. Turn on Enable FourKites GPS Tracking.

  5. Enter your FourKites API key.

  6. Choose how often GPS updates should be sent.

  7. Click Save.

After saving, FourKites is available for customer setup.

Step 2: Turn On FourKites for a Customer

  1. Go to Customers.

  2. Open an existing customer or create a new one.

  3. Open the customer’s Tracking Integration Settings.

  4. Turn on FourKites.

  5. Enter the customer’s Shipper ID (billToCode).

  6. Save the customer record.

Important: changes in the tracking panel do not take effect until the customer record is saved.

Step 3: Use FourKites on a Load

Once company and customer setup are complete, loads for that customer can send FourKites updates.

  1. Open or create a trucking load.

  2. Make sure the load has:

      - A customer assigned

      - A truck/unit assigned

  3. Use the FourKites option in the load’s tracking actions to send the assignment update.

  4. For pickup and delivery stops, use the FourKites buttons to send:

      - Arrived

      - Completed

  Check That It’s Working

You can confirm setup in a few ways:

  - In Settings > FourKites Tracking, look for Last GPS Update

  - On trucking loads, FourKites status indicators will show whether the load is ready

  - If something is missing, the load will usually show the reason

Common Reasons FourKites Is Not Ready

FourKites usually will not work if:

  - FourKites is not enabled in Settings

  - The API key has not been saved

  - The customer does not have FourKites turned on

  - The customer is missing a Shipper ID

  - The load does not have a customer assigned

  - The load does not have a truck/unit assigned
